Play is disabled and am unable to play the composition.

I am unable to play any composition after installation. I just installed the program and was able to do everything in the tutorials except play any composition.
I clicked on the general music fonts and it asked if I wanted to install, I said yes. I found the file in the location identified in your docs.
View/synthesizer is disabled (greyed out), but the mixer will come up and show the instruments.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled (64 bit). Uninstalled and installed (32 bit). Added the fonts to both and still no sound.
Program seems to be exactly what I'm looking for, but is useless if I can't play my composition.
