Eighth note beams

Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to separate eighth note beams? Specifically, when I input 4 consecutive eighth notes they are automatically beamed together. I am using musescore for my elementary music classroom and the connected beams are very confusing for some students. I would like to be able to split them into two pairs of eighth notes so that each beat is beamed together without crossing over beats. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!
