Musescore Pro (Help please ASAP!)

• Oct 28, 2019 - 02:08

There is a student I know whom created an account on Musescore for a school work in Music class. However, she only used it once to get a music sheet, after that, she left it, seeing as she doesn't need it anymore and suddenly, the 30 day free trial expired. After that, she was upgraded to Musescore Pro by the company and had to pay 49USD, total being around 72-78ish Aus dollars and she didn't know that.

What I want to ask overall is that: the money in her bank account was taken but, she later got a refund afterwards.

But now, she isn't too sure whether that money was meant to be hers or the company. Is it her right to get the money back or is it the company's?

Shouldn't Musescore just disable the account once it hits the expiration of the 30 day free trial? Instead of suddenly just levelling her up without her consent?

Hope I don't offend anyone or arise any arguments.
I'm a little confused and would like some advice and opinions.

Thank you

That is not what she gave her consent for. When signing up and providing credit card information, she agreed to be billed after the trail period if she didn't actively cancel the subscription beforehand.

While one could debate the ethics of auto-renew of subscription services in general and for MuseScore in particular, what happened was entirely legal and not even hidden away in fine print.
From what I gather about the current refund policy, she can consider herself one of the lucky few that actually got a refund at all.
