Incorrect instrument names after section break.

• Nov 21, 2019 - 23:01

In my score I renamed the parts but after a section break the instrument names are back to default and despite being able to open the editing menu the changes there don't affect the names.
When opening the menu on the incorrect names it even shows the edited names but in the score it's still the default names.

Same for the short names.

My suspicion is that you are using French as your interface language in the program. The reason for this is that when you created your score you had English names for the instruments, when you changed instruments (by inserting instrument change text) and changed instruments, the instruments were changed to French names. Starting in version 3.3, you have the ability to edit instrument names after an instrument change. You can right click any measure after the instrument change and edit the long and short instrument names on these instruments so the names are what you want them to be. FYI, you have an instrument change in measure 43 for the second instrument and an instrument change to start the second section for the first instrument. There are others as well, but these are the ones affecting the long names.

My interface is in german. I changed the german names to english.
I should've mentioned that this project was created way back with a musescore version 2.X and back then (judging from some old pdfs) this wasn't a problem.
Removing and adding the instrument changes works and the names update correctly.
Thank you very much.

There were ways to edit instrument names in version 2 that were eliminated in version 3 due to some bugs. Version 3.3 introduced a different method to change default instrument names. This is one of the things that might now be able to be fixed during import that was not possible in 3.x prior to 3.3.
