Understanding auto - tie mechanics

hey folks

question - ive noticed that, after using CNTRL to highlight two notes and then tying them together, the program will often add an additional tie to the next note with the same values a measure later.

At first i thought this was a timing or voicing issue, but i cannot get a handle on WHEN the program is going to do this, or why it sometimes does.

For instance - i can tie off the last two quarter notes in middle c in a measure, and sometimes the program will tie off the next middle c in the next measure.

can someone shed some light?

When adding a tie you arent support to select both notes, just the first one - MuseScore tries to start a tie at each selected note. So, if there is anything it can find to tie that second note to, it will. if not, it won't. Solution: don't select both notes. Or, better yet, enter the tie before you even enter the second note - ties are best entered while still in note input note, just enter the first note, select a duration, and press the tie button. This automatically enters the second note and ties it.
