Changing from voice 1 to voice 2 on the same stave.
When I have completed writing part one on the stave I find there is a blue oblong on the note I have been positioning. I realise I need to get rid of this blue oblong so that I can write notes for the second part on the same stave. Even though I change to voice 2 and then begin writing the second part, the note in part one where the blue oblong is changes its value and messes up. How do I get rid of the blue oblong, please? Thanks.

I assume you are talking about the note input cursor. If you have successfully changed to voice 2, the cursor should change to green. My guess is you tried changing to voice 2 while not in note input mode, that won't work - make the change while in note input mode.
If that doesn't solve it, please attach your score and tell us more precisely what you are doing and what is going wrong.
