How do I add "loose" ties between notes that appear non-consecutive on paper?

Sometimes, 2 notes will be played consecutively though they do not appear consecutively on paper, for example in case of a volta. Musescore requires me to have 2 consecutive notes on paper in order to connect them with a tie. If I want to add a tie between the last note before volta [1] and the first note of volta [2], how do I do this?
