Questions about uploading a score.

• Jan 2, 2020 - 04:41

I finished an arrangement of a piece of classical music that I would like to share.

Unfortunately, I found the upload process to require information that I was not prepared to answer, with no detailed guidance in the documentation.

Here are questions that I have from reviewing the initial upload page (there may be more to follow):

I do not know what to choose from the "Instrumentation" drop-down box.
This is a piece for Flute solo (or other C instrument) with Easy Piano accompaniment. I did not see anything close to that in the drop-down choices.

I do not know what to choose from the "License" drop-down box. I do not know anything about licensing, and guidance would be appreciated.

I do not know if there are a standard set of tags, or if one just makes them up on the fly. Obviously, I want the appropriate, interested people to find this score when searching.

Are there any guidelines for what should be included or not in the description?

I was disappointed that these questions were not answered up front in the MuseScore online manual.

I suspect that subsequent screens will raise additional questions.

Thank you in advance for your clarification, and I hope that the answers will find their way into the MuseScore manual, also.

Regards,
David D.

No one on the MuseScore.com staff has appeared in that forum for at least 4 days. There are no documents describing guidelines, and the "screens" or "things you can say" change without warning, appeal, or guidance. The fact there is no guidance for, say, tags, makes them useless for people searching them. You might note that the 25-long dropdown on the searchbox on scores includes "Marching Percussion", "Game of Thrones", and "Halloween", but not "Violin" or "Sacred Music". It is chaos, and you are on your own. There is no use complaining there because no one seems to read or respond. Just venting, sorry. (The .org forums are highly responsive and considerate, but, like all of us, cannot solve problems not in their domain).
