No Sound in Musescore from day one with iMac running Catalina

Hi all,

I am just wondering if I am alone with this issue and if anyone has found a solution/workaround...
I downloaded and installed Musescore for the first time and the program seems to run fine apart from the following which render it fairly useless for me:

1. Playback bar greyed out
2. Synthesiser selection greyed out
3. Unable to make selections in I/O settings as dropdown menus don't work

As a result of the above, I am unable to get any sound out of musescore and can't play my scores. I have tried a few older versions of MS, performed a reset through terminal and reinstalled my OS on the iMac with no luck.

I would be very grateful if anyone has a solution that they can share or can at least respond if they are having the same issue.
