Editing tablature for guitar (plus octaves)

• Jan 4, 2020 - 15:16

Hi guys and gals.

I have a couple of questions, especially in regards to editing guitar tab. The only bit where I have run into any problems is the last three bars of the piece (El Noi de la Mare) that involves both natural and 'artificial' harmonics. Easy enough to represent on the score but on the tab things get a bit complicated. I found a bit of a workaround by making some notes invisible and replacing them with text in the tab, but it is hardly an elegant solution! Is there a better way to do this?

The other problem is in the final bar there is an artificial harmonic fretting finger at 5 and picking the harmonic at 17. Is there any way to get the playback (fore example if I wanted to make a midi file or wav from the piece) to jump up an octave?

I've attached a jpeg so you can get an idea . N.B two points there is an error on my part in the penultimate bar, the tab should show the harmonic being played on the D string not the A. The other point is that the piece is in drop D tuning so I've not made a mistake in bar 16 or 18.

An elegant solution anybody?

Regards

Keith

Invisible and add text, yes, why not, it's a solution. Another one is not to use linked staves (only added, and so copy-paste the standard staff content to TAB staff)
Editing frets in the TAB becomes independent and easy - just disable playback for involved notes in Inspector.
About octaves, add ottava lines 8 and 15 on the desired notes (and hide the whole thing). See: 3El_Noi Segovia.mscz
(Of course, it would be better if harmonics playback was inplemented. One day maybe... )
