Default kick drum to voice 1

I've been transcribing for a few months now, but there's one little thing that always annoys me. Whenever I select the kick drum, it defaults to voice 2, which I don't like for various reasons. Is there a way to set a part as belonging to a particular voice, and if not, can a feature be made to implement that?
