Sharps aren't kept in the same measure across octaves
As you can see, when I have a G# in the lower register using ledger lines, and then a G# one octave higher, for some reason the higher G# only plays back if an accidental is added to the second octave. I've tried putting them in with the mouse and the keyboard but neither will play back the way I want it to.
Is there a way to fix this?
Is this even a bug?
Thanks!

It's not a bug, that how accidentals work. An accidental only applies to the specific staff, measure, and octave it is applied to. Not just in MuseScore, that's just the normal rules of music notation. If you want a G# in two different octaves, you need to add the sharp sign to both notes.
In todays standard notation each octave indeed needs its own accidental if it isn't included in the key signature.
