Musescore 3 running incredibly choppy

Yesterday I was working on musescore per usual and I was messing with some preferences and stuff and I believe I hit 'set all preferences to default' and now musescore (verison 3) is running incredibly choppy, the audio playback fine but the cursor is incredibly delayed and also there's a good 3-5 second frame of when I input text it actually begins to appear on the screen. I use custom soundfonts (around 6 or 7 I believe), mix and pan the audio in the mixer and master effects; But this has never been an issue before, musescore always ran smoothly even with all my configurations. This issue appears on all my scores not just my large orchestral scores but even a small scores such as my chamber works. I need some help on possible results to restore to how musescore previously ran or at least reduce the choppiness and lag.
