Playback won't observe repeats

Hello,
I am using Musescore 3. I have put some repeats in a piece. I selected (and deselected and selected again) the 'play repeat' button in the toolbar. When i start play back it appears to be selected, but the playback keeps skipping over my repeat. I have repeats on both ends of the phrase. Is there something I missed? Thanks!
