"Cannot Load Soundfont ..."

I am trying to install a custom soundfont that I created in Viena to Musescore. It is a .sf2 file. The installation (as written in the handbook) goes perfectly, and the file appears in Synthesiser -> Fluid -> Add, but when I attempt to load the soundfont Musescore simply pops up an error that it cannot load the soundfont.

I am wondering what could be causing this error, including the possibility that I screwed up somewhere in the creation of the soundfont.
