If by "double bass" you mean the stringed instrument also known as contrabass, then it is true you cannot directly add unpitched notes to it. You can, however, use the "Note heads" palette or the Inspector to change the notehead to look however you like, and you can also use the Inspector to silence the playback. You can, if you like, also add an invisible playback staff (see Edit / Instruments) for the percussive sounds.
