Notehead Groups with TAB

Is there anyway to change the TAB notehead to enclose the fret number in parentheses? The manual lists this but it appears that it only applies to standard notation since it's not an option when I use the dropdown. In guitar tab parentheses indicate a ghost note or a tied note.
