Mouse shortcut/macro support?
As a gamer, I have several different mouse peripherals, so I went about seeing if I could bind shortcuts to mouse buttons, and it seems that there is no general support for this, for even a 5 button mouse. Am I missing something? It'd be stellar to use mouse buttons for input, or combinations of those buttons (like mouse 4 + a keyboard button).

I believe our shortcuts are indeed keyboard-oriënted.
Note that MuseScore does not directly address your hardward, but is built on top of cross-platform libraries which might be incapable of detecting such mouse buttons.
Then again, most multi-button mouses allow setting macros to them in their driver, so perhaps you can take advantage of that somehow?

I didn't want to get too far down the rabbit hole without asking about it first. I am going to suspect that I wouldn't be able to trick MuseScore into recognizing them if it didn't natively support mouse shortcuts.
Presumably there are utilities that can automatically convert mouse gestures to keyboard commands, though. This is used to pretty impressive effect by Notation Express, using the Stream Deck device - see https://www.nycmusicservices.com/notation-express/.
