Paste / merge notes

Is it possible to paste / merge notes? E.g., a couple of scenarios from the attached image... I want to copy all the quarter notes into the measure w/ the 8th notes.. and retain the 8th notes.

Or, I want to copy just one of the quarter notes, and paste onto one of the 8th notes.. resulting in the alignment of the two notes

Even if I could do that with notes of the same duration, that would be helpful.

This (perhaps obviously) is for a drum set part. Generally, I'd find it faster/easier to copy/paste parts like this (then nudging notes up/down if the instrument/pitch isn't exactly what I want).. vs the pick the note from the from the bottom of the screen mechanism.
