Beamed notes across two lines/systems

• Jul 21, 2020 - 02:10

I did some searching on this and I guess I don't know how to describe what i need to do succinctly: Start a group of beamed notes in the last measure of a line or system, then on the next line/system, continue the group of beamed notes with a "broken" beam. The attached pictures show what I mean.

Is there a way to do this naturally in Musescore?

Not really. You can click the first note of the second measure and choose the "Beam middle" icon on the Beam Properties palette, and this will beam across the barline when the measures are on the same system, but when there is a break between them, MuseScore does not currently draw the broken beam. It's a common request that we'd love to implement someday, but it has proven more complex than we might have hoped.

Thanks. It's not a dealbreaker, and I can imagine it being complicated. I'd also love to just add a broken beam whenever, like for a triplet with one eighth note and two eight rests, and instead of the 'flag' have a broken beam over the other rests.

I'll just make do beaming the notes on each system separately.
