Articulation Playback
I tried editing the instruments.xml file to change the playback of accents, but it doesn't affect anything.
I'm using Musescore 3.

It gets copied into your score, mscz/mscx, that's why you're not seeing it.
Try the articulation plugin, too, and never edit XML again. See Download>Plugins above.
