Freezing

Running 3.5.0.28537 on macOS 10.14.6.
Have not had ANY major issues with Musescore 2 or 3 before up until the last month.
Main issue: Musescore 'freezes', esc key wont work, cant add notes, etc., so I quit & restart to fix this, BUT often then...
when it starts up again, ALL the note selections [rhythmic] are tiny, miniscule & so are ALL the selections in the palette menu.
Then, sometimes, when I restart again, it is back to normal till main issue occurs again.
