cant figure out how to add samples to MDL's sampler instrument

so im writing a piece and it requires some samples from a song, and MDL has an instrument called "MDL Sampler" which suggests that it is possible to add samples to it, but i cant figure out how, and i cant find any good tutorials on how to do it. ive tried using soundfonts but when i do musescore bugs out and sets every instrument in the score to that exact soundfont (for example, instead of an actual marimba sound, all marimba parts play the sample in question at different pitches) some help would be greatly appreciated
