Measure and Note editing

I do not find a way to clear notes from one or more measures, I can Select groups of measures, or select ALL, and when I delete from there everything gets deleted. Is there a way to just delete the notes? I have chord symbols in place also, and I do NOT want those deleted, I want to start over with the notes.
