Moving multiple note sideways

Ok, so I got info a while back on how to select multiple notes, then change all of them to a higher or lower note, but can someone tell me if its possible to move them over, like if you created a big part, then realize its a beat too late, are you able to move them back a beat, and if so , how?

You can move them. You must cut and paste.

click on the first note you want to move,
shift+click on the last note you want to move,
CTRL+X,
click on the note or rest you want to replace with the first note of the moved section
CTRL+V.
