Every time I open Musescore I have to move the playback panel sideways and open the mixer panel separately
How can I place the playback panel (or any panel) on a fixed spot on my computer screen every time I open Musescore?
Also how do I keep it as small as I want it?

The playback panel can be docked. Drag it to the right or left side of the window and it'll snap into place. This is true for many resizable windows.
While you drag it if you drag it near the bottom of another docked panel, you'll see the blue place it will be snapped to so you can see both panels at once. If you move it up a little, the already docked panel will turn blue. If you drop it there, the panels will be tabbed. I do this with my Inspector, Palettes and Filter selector so the are always a click of a tab away.
These are persistent. When I close and reopen MuseScore, they are still there. If this isn't happening for you, then you probably have a permission issue in your operating system for the directory MuseScore is in since it writes this panel info to a file.
