Missing/Changed instruments

• Sep 14, 2020 - 17:35

Hi,

Have I missed something?

I used to use Eb Alto Horn and Baritone in most of my scores now I can't see the Alto Horn at all and Baritone seems to have become Baritone Horn.

Anyone advise please?
Thanks!

The default naming of some instruments definitely is continually tweaked over changed to be more consistent with common practice.

I'm not sure how things were before or when they might have changed, but I see both "Horn in Eb" as well as "Eb Alto Horn" when I type "horn" into the search box. Are you perhaps using the default "Common instruments" list? If so, the search box is how you find other instruments, or change to the "All instruments" list using the dropdown at the top, but to me that's overwhelming, search is my preference.

As for "baritone", indeed I see "Baritone horn", which is consistent with at least some "standard" score presentations for wind bands, although of course there are always different variations used by different publishers. If yours prefers simply "Baritone", just double-click the name to edit it in Staff/Part Properties.
