File "...." corrupted
When I open the file that I have been working on I get the message that the file is corrupted and the a dialog box telling me there are errors in various bars. I have corrected the errors (many times!) and every time I save and then reopen the file the same error displays and the bars I reworked have reverted to the "corrupted" error. I have tried copying and pasting a different bar; I have tried copying and swap with clipboard; I have also tried saving as to a different filename. I can still open and work on the file, but the errors keep on coming back.
Is there an option somewhere to clear completely the contents of a bar, or is there something else I can do?
It's all rather frustrating!

See https://musescore.org/en/node/54721 which lists several options to fix such corruptions.

Thanks for the link.
Be aware that if you have linked parts, fixing a corruption in the main score doesn't necessarily fix it in the part, which then might lead to re-corrupting the main score.

Thanks - I have checked the parts and all seems to be fine.
UPDATE - I think I have just answered my own question! Added in some new bars and deleted the "corrupted" ones. Now all seems fine.
