Instruments won't play unless each bar is clicked first

I am generally new to MuseScore and do not really understand all of the settings. I think I might have pressed something that caused this problem because it was never like this before. I noticed that when I play the part (I usually click a note from any instrument of that bar of the score), it only plays that instrument. So for example the piano is playing, then the other instruments would not play. So I stopped and click the bar where another instrument starts playing, for example violin. If play from that part again only piano and that bar of violin is playing, instead of all instruments. Sorry, I am not making much sense. Basically no other instruments but piano would play until I click every single bar of each instrument, which is a huge huge hassle. I have tried resetting preferences to default settings and I just reverted it back to factory settings, but nothing worked. Does anyone know what is wrong? Thank you.
