V2 Lyrics

• Aug 28, 2014 - 10:02

Started to use V2 and think it's great. I arrange/reset music for a male voice choir where one of our number has poor eye-sight so I thought I would use v2 to create an A3 version.
When I open an existing song in V2 I find issues with lyrics.

1. Lyrics which are attached to the second voice are missing in bar 1 and 3 and 9 and others.

2. In V1.3, when I click on lyrics to amend, they are shown (V1) in either green or blue depending upon the voice to which they are attached. That seems not to happen in V2.

3. In V1.3, I can use "Shift" & mouse to highlight a part of the lyrics and then Ctrl/mouse to drag the lyrics where I wish. In V2 I can't drag them vertically.

I've attached my V1.3 piece and also the V2 piece so you can see what I mean.

Is this the correct place to post such queries or is there somewhere specific for V2?

The Technology Preview forum is the place for discussions of 2.0 Beta releases. Not sure if that's where you posted this originally, but it's where it is now :-)

When you are sure you have an actual bug report, no questions, you can file it directly in the Issue tracker (see menu at right of this page, or just use Help / Report a Bug from within MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1.

What you describe in #1 definitely looks like a bug to me, you could file that.

Regarding #3 - Ctrl+drag has changed meaning in 2.0 Beta 1. It now constrains dragging to horizontal only. Shift+drag constrains vertically. however, it is a glitch that you lose the multiple-selection unless you *start* with Ctrl+drag. So you'd have to Ctrl+drag first, then Shift+drag works. That's a bug too. But in this case, there are now better ways of doing this sort of thing.

First is the Inspector window. If you're not accustomed to it, it seems like an extra step, but I suggest you bring it up (F8) and leave it up and learn to love it :-). With items selected, you can dial in an *exact* vertical offset very easily, making it easy to align different items similarly.

If you know you will need to make the same adjustment many places, you could also define a new text style (Style / Text, New) and give it whatever vertical offset you like, then you can apply that text style to any selected items via the Inspector as well.
