Overlapping Note Fix

• Nov 3, 2020 - 21:53

I am composing a few pieces that utilize notes clustered together. I am wondering how to make it look like the
circled chord in the PNG below and not overlapped like the other one. Thanks in advance :)

You will need to select the note head you want to move, then in the inspector (F8) use the x offset in the Note section to move only that note head. You can use negative numbers to move the note head to the left.

I recently saw a discussion asking why someone would want to move only the note head and I couldn't think of a reason off the top of my head. Then in the last week I used this feature to fix a cluster chord like yours and now you ask to use it.

Hmm... I'm curious... what instrument is playing this?
You want B. What's wrong with A or C?

BTW: Your 2 pictures show different situations with regards to the number of different pitches in each example. Each contains three notes but only 1 has three different pitches - that's the one with the sharp and natural on the same pitch.

The reason I ask is because the OP's first screenshot looks like an organist is mashing down on 3 contiguous foot pedals: A, B flat, and B natural.
His second picture looks like a pianist attempting to play two G sharp notes simultaneously (along with an A).
There is no G sharp and G natural which, of course, would be playable together.
