New>Guitar + Tablature
Right click the tablature staff and chose Staff/Part properties
Click the Advanced Style Properties button
In the Fret Marks tab
• Set size to a different point size
• Choose a different Font face
Result: on Choosing a new Font face MuseScore resets the font Size.
