convert an uploaded pdf music score to guitar tab
I figured out how to upload a pdf music file to muscscore..no problem. When I go to instruments and try to covert it to guitar tab..nothing happens? Is it possible to do for starters and if so...how?

I started by lowering every note an octave (ctrl+a then ctrl+down arrow) since the voice sounds an octave higher than the guitar. I then right clicked the staff, clicked the "Change instruments" button and chose Classical Guitar (Tablature) and got these results.
There is no way to tell the PDF import you are importing guitar tab or any specific instrument.

Wow, Mike...thank you so much. I will play with what you said and see if I can reproduce this. I'm not sure I understand why you had to lower the note an octave only because this is written for guitar and should have been in the right octave. I do know that you have to do that for piano music to convert it to playable guitar. It was the conversion process that was not working for me. I will try the right click and "change Instruments" button. Lets see if I can figure this out. Thank you for the quick reply!!! Really appreciate it.

ok I see how to change the instrument and get the tab notation. I also see how you need to lower each note an octave which is still strange to me as it is correct if I read it as guitar music? Do you know why that is? I see that it works...just not sure why it sees it as an octave higher than it is played on the guitar? Did you have to do every note individually for the tab you sent me? or is there a way to accomplish this in an easier way. Thank you again for you information....it is a big help.

haha ok I answered my own question....you can lower everything at one time....still don't understand why it sees this as an octave too high? but....I now understand how to do it ......Again..thank you.

Guitar music is written an octave higher than it sounds so you need to lower the music an octave on the staff to make it sound correct on the guitar. Piano and voice both sound as written so this would not be necessary if you were switching between piano and voice.

May I ask another quick question. How can I upload the entire score I want to work with..music and tab lines. When I upload this file I only get the music line..the tab line does not show up. I know how to create a blank tab line, but I want to upload what is already here if possible. Is that possible? Thanks again for all your help. I'm slowly learning how to use this great program.

I don't think audiveris supports tablature at this time. The easiest way is to open the instruments dialog (press i) select Staff 1 under the guitar and click Add linked staff. This will add Staff 2 to the guitar. To the right of this there is a gray dropdown that defaults to "Standard." Click it and select an appropriate Tab staff and the tablature will automatically be filled when you click OK. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/tablature for more info on how to change tablature settings.
Is it possible to do the reverse?
I want to upload a PDF of guitar tabs and have musescore show it to me in standard notation.
Is this possible?
