Tremolo Items Play: On/Off

Is there a way to create "just text"-like items?
I'm trying to put a Tremolo symbol on a stem (well, a bunch of them) but without having it play.
Instead, I want to use the "tremolo" sound that comes into the third channel on the mixer using the "tremolo" text and setting it invisible, since I'm looking for an uneven tremolo.

This is for string players. Usually we use tremolo stems to refer to uneven tremolo.
My idea was to untick the "Play" box in the inspector, but it seems like there's nothing like that with tremolos.
