New chord feature.... provides distorted sound...
When I play my scores... the sound is "fried"... distorted.
I don't know if that is a bug in the new program or what... but I can't get a score to play without distorting....
I am a huge fan of Musescore and have used it for several years.
I can live with this... but it is nice to be able to hear one's scores clearly.
Thanks,
jeff

Use: View -> Synthesizer and, during playback, watch the Vol. meter for excessive clipping (red zone).
Also, If you wish to adjust the volume of the chord symbol playback, see:

I'm not sure if you are saying the distortion has something to do with the chord symbols or not, but it seems you've turned the chord symbol playback off in any case.
Anyhow, whatever you are hearing seems unique to your system, as it sounds fine on mine. So be sure you don't have your speakers turned up too high. If you have experimented with a third party soundfont, sondider removing that any going with a known good one, like the default that comes with MuseScore.
