Brush Swirl

• Jan 4, 2021 - 16:21

I am trying to find a way to have brush swirls play the length of a note duration. Using GeneralUser GS v1.471.sf2, E2 under the Brush option is the best swirl I can find but I can't control duration. It sounds a set duration then stops. I am trying to make it play perpetually for a couple measures with intermittent brush slaps.
I have an old Yamaha PSR-400 Portatone which indicates the swirl should be D2 note 26 and unlike most all of the other drumkit sounds, this note has a Key off Key on setting. I am trying to do the same thing but when using the either the Drumset option or Brush sound selection, I don't see a way to set the duration longer than the default.
Perhaps key off key on is not a General Midi drumkit option but specific to Yamaha? I have been trying to find a soundfont for the Portatone and see if that would work but not finding one. Perhaps there is brush soundfont available where brush swirl duration can be controlled?
Thank you for any guidance.
Joe

Maybe, perhaps, you can change the time duration preset inside the GeneralUser GS v1.471.sf2 itself.

You can use "POLYPHONE" to perform that.

All soundfont files are full editable.

Basically, a soundfont file is a collection of sounds (from the sampled instruments). So, we can change a lot of parameters of each sound (pitch, duration, level, reverberation, panoramic position, etc.)

But... Be careful about the preset changes!!! It is so easy to spoil a sound.

I suggest to save all changes to a new name soundfont file, leaving the original without changes... JUST IN CASE.
