3.6 Vertical Spacing System advice
I'm particularly excited about the improvements in verticle spacing that 3.6 promises to offer.
In my scores, I have endeavored to approximate a professional look in page layout using various means--most usually system spacers. I would like to "retrofit" old scores with 3.6, at least to see if it can make it the spacing even better. Any suggestions on how I should go about doing this (removing spacers, resetting defaults, etc.)?
I downloaded a beta version of 3.6, but have only played with it to create a couple new, one-page scores.

Remove the beta and get the real stuff.
Upon opening an older score in 3.6 you are offered some options to apply the new style defaults to it. After choosing those, you can remove all spacers by right-clicking one (ctrl-click on Mac) and choose "Select All Similar Elements", then press "delete". You might consider doing the same to page breaks.
After that, go into the style settings and press the big "reset styles to defaults" button in the bottom left corner of that dialog.
See also the release video in which this is briefly handled.

Thanx. I sometimes use Page and System Breaks, but most frequently I use "{" and "}" to adjust horizontal layout and measure distribution per system. I find it more flexible, and often more predictable.

You can select (all) measures and then use "Format → Stretch → Reset Layout Stretch" for that.

The stretch commands are useful for squeezing more measures per system than would otherwise fit, although easier is often to globally reduce the spacing in Format / Style / Measure. Then use breaks to limit number of measures on systems where needed. This also has a beneficial effect on relatively measure widths within systems, so you won't need to use stretch much if at all.
