Discrepancy in bar numbers

I have a score with a lead-in bar which I have excluded from the bar count.
Quite rightly, the bar numbers displaying above the bars reflect this exclusion (I display every bar number).
But on selecting and highlighting bar 1 (the first full one), the bottom of the screen shows Range Selection: start bar 2 start beat 1, end bar 2 start beat 4.
IN other words, it ignores the fact that my lead-in bar has been excluded.
Moreover, on doing CTRL+F, and entering a number x, the score focuses at the bar with bar number x-1. In other words, it displays similar behaviour.
Surely this is wrong?

On another score, I created the score with an explicit anacrusis and don't have the same problem. Is there a way of specifying an anacrusis in the first score retrospectively and recovering the situation?
