simplifying notes

• Mar 30, 2021 - 13:33

I have copied a midi file of a score into the programme. It was the 2nd movement of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no 3 in G major. The second movement was composed on the Moog synthesizer by Wendy Carlos in 1968 for her album 'Switched on Bach'. In 1971 it was used for a ballet which was notated. I am in the process of reconstructing the work from the notation. The notator used identifiable counts here and there. The time signature is 4/4. The score looks more complicated than it could be straightforward music notation but because of the 'sound' it has turned to a mass of notes. I would really like to reduce those sounds and notes to a simpler score but would really like to have some advice, please.

I agree it looks very complicated. That's what happens sometimes if you try to reconstruct scores from Midi. Sometimes it works.

I can, however, give you a start. Embellish and modify with synthesisers as you wish. :-)
