Audio not working on Windows 10 Musescore 3

I recently installed Musescore 3 on Windows 10, and the application does not play sound. I have tried all the steps listed in this article. When I open Musescore, the play buttons are greyed out and the synthesizer under the view tab is also greyed out. Audio is working for all other applications. API and Device under edit>preferences>I/O are empty with no drop-down when clicked.
