Lyrics colours.

• May 22, 2021 - 09:04

Hi,
I scored several pieces with lyrics odd lines in one colour, and lyrics even lines in another. (I use the colours to copy the score to friends who cannot read music notation, and label the notes alphabetically.)

Now I seem to have forgotten how to make the lyrics in different colours. I get on to the 'element' page, and clearly select odd or even lines, but I end up with lyrics odd, and lyrics even, lines the same colour.

What have I forgotten?

Comments

Select one syllable (even or odd), change color in Inspectore, hit the "S" button to set it as style
Do the same with the another syllable (or or even now)

Thanks Jo-jo,

I must be missing something.

I have inserted lyrics into the odd line in one colour and font - fine. Then I select a note to start the even lyric line below. In Inspector, I stipulate the colour, and press 's' (should it be a capital 'S'?) on the keyboard as you suggest. No result - only the initial even line lyric stays at the requested colour and font. Subsequent ones revert to black, free serif.

After making the selection in the Inspector, there is no 'apply' and 'OK' buttons allowing me to confirm the requested changes. Perhaps there should be - other requests (page settings etc.) do have those buttons. Maybe that is why my changes do not engage.

I tried selecting the even lyrics line with right click: 'all similar elements', hoping this would select only the even lyrics. Not so. It selects both lyrics lines, merely making them both the same font and colour.

I seem to remember a 'lyrics' tab within 'style'. Yes, there is a tab there, but it offers only spacings etc. which is not what I want.

It's frustrating, but I used to perform this with a touch of a button. Has MS3 has altered things? Perhaps my memory is worse than even I thought!

Clive.
