1.3 styles cannot be read by MuseScore 2.0

I noticed I couldn't use the styles from MuseScore 1.3 if they are copied into the style directory from MuseScore 2.0 because they cannot be opened. So I needed to recreate the styles in 2.0. Is this to be expected?
