Play won't work

About to go postal. Just got a new laptop. Installed and played around on MuseScore for a little bit, everything worked fine. Later, I tried to use it with my headphones plugged in, and it is impossible to get sound through them. At first the sound was still coming out of the computer, regardless of if the headphones were in the jack all the way or not. Now, I cannot even get access to the play panel or synthesizer anymore. Spacebar does nothing. I tried the sound FAQ on here, and still, nothing works. I messed around with all the settings on my PC. My computer is a Dell G5 Laptop. When I go into the I/O tab in preferences, I cannot even select anything. There is just literally nothing to select under PortAudio. Jack Audio Server does nothing. I've restarted audio and MIDI devices nearly 100 times. I am at a loss.
Please help for my sanity.
