Changing an instrument's sound, after changing it itself?

So I had a piano, and later in the piece, switched instruments on that staff to instead be electric guitar. I would like the "overdrive" guitar sound rather than the default electric guitar one. Is there a way to do this?

I know about using the mixer, but that only works if I'm using the same instrument all throughout. What I'm trying to do is make an instrument, that was changed a ways into the piece, sound different.

It actually is possible in the mixer. When you open the mixer after applying the instrument change, you should have an arrow at the top of the mixer channel. You can click the arrow to expand the channel out sideways, where you will find controls for all of the instruments used in that staff, i.e. you will have both the piano sound, as well as all of the electric guitar channels. Another option would be to use Staff Text, and change to the Overdrive channel in Staff Text Properties. For both methods, you can find the documentation here: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/mixer.
