Unable to replace rest sign with a note of same duration
I am trying to input music notation for piano. After I successfully enter notes in treble clef, I am trying to enter notes in bass clef. First note is entered successfully, but the second (both half notes), the second half-note rest is not replaced, but is reproduced with the + sign above. The additional rest sign with a + is also created in the treble clef. How to overcome this issue? Please, help.

By the + sign I guess your measure is extended to be longer than the time signiture specified. I believe you pressed shift while entering notes.

Yes, I was using the shift key to add notes to the cords, however, I was unknowingly doing it while in the insert note mode. Thank you.
I believe you've accidentally triggered "insert mode" instead of the default "step time" note entry input. Have a look at https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/note-input-modes for more information on how to switch between these different modes.
