Adding a note-independent line of translation to lyrics

I would like to add a line (sometimes two) of translation below my lyrics, but the translation cannot be broken into words to fit the notes. In addition, if I try to paste an English phrase into a lyric syllable-box, the phrase is cut off at the first space.

Is there a way to do this in the program as currently constituted?

Sure, just use staff text (Ctrl+T) instead of lyrics.

The cutting off of words at spaces is a feature - it allows you to paste lyrics one syllable at a time.
