audio file editing

Hey, I have an mp3 audio file that I'd like to work with in MuseScore. Currently it only accepts midi and xml-type files. So how can I convert an mp3 to an xml? Any programs or websites you would recommend? Or could we maybe add a feature to Muse Score so that it can accept mp3 files?

Converting an MP3 to a score is not possible automatically. There are online tools that will attempt to convert audio to a MIDI file, but they rarely work well. You will have to transcribe the score by ear yourself, or otherwise find someone who is willing to do it for you.

As for why that is, an MP3 contains no data about notes, tempo, etc. that you would need to create a score. It's like trying to convert a hand-written document to a well-formatted Word document without typing it out by hand -- there are programs that will try, but they cannot possibly account for everyone's individual handwriting, picture quality, and so on.
