Enharmonic key signatures
I'm in E major and I want my alto sax in Db. I used to transpose, but that doesn't work anymore. I don't want to change the staff properties because they're in D major (B major) and I want 5 sharps. What do I do?

I'm not understanding the part where you say you don't want to change the staff properties - that's the easiest way to do it. Simply set the option to prefer flats for transposed key signatures. Or, set the transposition to be diminished seventh rather than major sixth.
