Keyboard MIDI note creation bug

• Nov 24, 2021 - 05:50

Build: (OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021803, revision: 3224f34)

This only started happening with the latest release. Every time I use my keyboard (Casio CDP-100) to input a note via MIDI, it always inputs two identical notes. If I have the half note selected, and I play a C on my piano, it will input 2 sequential C's onto the sheet music, for a total of 4 beats. It does this with every length of note, consistently inputting 2 regardless of how fast or long I press the key on my piano. At first I though my MIDI to USB adapter was doubling the input. But it only started doing this today when I updated. I can't find any other MIDI input software to test to see if my USB adapter is the problem either, so I'm hoping someone here has an answer for me.

I turned on the input sound and I can clearly hear 2 notes being pressed when I am entering a note into the score. However this goes away when I am not inputting a note and just listening to the MIDI input through Musescore. It's only reading double inputs when note input is turned on.

Seems like your keyboard is in "layered" mode, sending two notes instead of just one, like for piano & string sounds simultaneously. You'd need to consult the documentation for the keyboard to find out how to disable that.
