Plugin Score Versioning

• Dec 9, 2021 - 18:43

Hello everyone!

I read the usefulness of this plugin, I found it very interesting and useful, however, I didn't learn how to use it in my scores.
Could someone teach me the steps how I can use this plugin?
The only thing I managed to do was open it and a blank canvas (attachment) appears on top of my score.

Thank you very much friends!

Hi Jeetee!
Thanks for the guidance however so far I haven't learned how to use this plugin. I replayed the procedure that guided me, however, when I load a file, the message is attached.
I understand that for me to successfully use this plugin I need a tutorial "step by step".

Thank you friend!

Hi Jeetee!
Thanks for everything but unfortunately I give up! At least on my computer (Windows 10) this plugin doesn't work! After creating the project, when I add the score, the file doesn't attach to the project and continues the message as I sent you in a previous message.

Friendly hug!

Hi Jeetee!

That's what I was explaining to you, conclusion: the plugin doesn't work as described on your download page. On the page it is written by the author: "This was my bachelor's thesis at the University of Szeged, Hungary, Computer Science". So it was supposed to work right? Sometimes with the constant updates of MuseScore, there may have been a compatibility inconvenience.
In this case, could the creator of this plugin be notified to carry out maintenance or adjustments to the plugin?

Friendly hug!

To be clear, as far as I can tell the plugin works as advertised by it's author. (the plugin download page is also a wiki style thing, in this case generated by the plugin author)

I can create a project, add scores to it. I get a popup on opening a score that's not yet part of the plugin. I can modify the score version field as advertised. I can unload that project and load it up again later. I can open a score from the project list by double clicking it.
So all of that works.

It just seems that, as with most bachelor and hobby projects, it only works if you use it as intended. If you don't, then it'll break or crash (as I did by not selecting a file to load after saying I wanted to load one).

In your opening statement you said you think it'll be a very useful plugin for you, but from what I see the only thing it really gives you is a list of scores (which I personally already have just by using folders on my hard drive). Nothing more, nothing less. So I do wonder what you think it does?

You can of course try to contact the plugin author as well, although it looks like they've disabled their contact form here on their .org profile. A possibly way would be to log an issue into their gitlab repository (https://gitlab.com/musescore-version-management-plugin/music-version-ma…) though I doubt they'll still check that as there hasn't been any activity there in 2years...
